Close your eyes, make a wish, seal your wish in a lantern and let it float on the river. Your wish will come true- thus ran the legend.
Maya was fascinated as she saw the crowds that thronged the river bank.
She made her first wish- as a child she wanted to grow up.The next wish was to have a boyfriend ,then get into a good college, a good job, marry the guy she loved, have kids, get a promotion.
Today she kept her eyes open as she made her wish, she wanted to be a child again, live a carefree life, marvel at little things. Would that be granted?
Linking up with Rochelle Wisoff who hosts a weekly flash fiction for writers. Thanks Carla for the amazing photo.

‘Be careful what you wish for’ – that can be so true. Nicely done.

Adulting is absolutely no fun, that’s why I have ‘regressed’ back to being a child.

It is a gift to have a mind that is like a child full of curiosity, a mind that wants to explore the unknown.

Ive heard before that you get what you prayfor, but not always in the way you expect to get it. If she were to lose her mental faculties to some degree, much of her wish would come true…

Thats my daughter’s name! Its funny, she got everything she’d wished for in her life but I don’t think she believed that it was due to the wishing, so she kept her eyes open this time to see if it really doesn’t work. Classy stuff.

Dear Akshata,
It seems we always wish for what we don’t have. Evocative tale. Well done.
