Kyra twiddled with the vines, “This aint home” she wailed.
Mumma caressed her head lovingly ” Home is where the heart is honey, once we have this place spruced up its as good as new, get to work shall we?”
She looked at her phone nervosuly.
The body she was born in, the one she never felt at ease in, the battles she fought to be identified as a “her” and now with the new Transgender Act, it could all go in vain. No, she wouldn’t give up, she would start afresh, living a life which was not a lie.

Background information-The Indian parliament recently amended the Transgender law, it struck down self-identification and mandated medical examination, substantially narrowing down the definition of a Transgender person. The reaction is mostly fear, frustration and protests from the community while a smaller section sees some limited benefits
