The house was always noisy- a big family lived here. While it looked perfect from the outside, it was quite a contrasting situation within the 4 walls.
Daily tiffs which blew up into major fights. Thats’ when Grand Dada decided he had to bring in change.
He started a new ritual. Every member of the family had to write something nice about every other member in a chit and put it in a jar. However tough this seems to think good of someone you have not been on good terms with, think of a good memory.
The magic jar has become an integral part of our lives, the house is now filled with bouts of laughter.
Linking up with Rochelle Wisoff who hosts a weekly flash fiction challenge for writers. Thanks Priya Bajpai for the photo.

Well, this is quite relatable. We love our family but we do find it challenging sometimes to like them. Liking and loving are two different things after all! I enjoyed reading your story.

As a storytelling coach, one of the things I lead my groups in feedback is: say anything you liked first. Nothing about ideas, where something should be fixed, etc. Positivity can work if all involved work on it. As did your house. Nice.

Dear Akshata,
What a lovely idea. I wish I’d thought of that when my kids were growing up. Well done.
