Fire Fire, Help I am trapped here in the balcony, I screamed, my throat hoarse as the flames grew bigger.
There was a fire in the building and most people had managed to scramble out, I was the unlucky one left behind.
I waited for Superman, wasn’t he supposed to come and rescue me? The wait seemed forever, it was getting hotter, I could hardly breathe.
Thats when it hit me- I am SuperMan, my hero, saviour and rescuer. With grit, I picked up the hammer and started beating the window with all my might.
I will survive this.

Might be a problem if the protagonist can’t fly and they live several stories up.

Haha he doesn’t plan to fly but get help from the fire brigade downstairs. But he needs to break open the window first

I get the real life parallel. We need to be our own super heroes and cannot keep waiting for someone to rescue us.

Those who tarry won’t survive. Time to summon that inner courage.
