Feels like home to me #FFFAW #FlashFiction

The Cove- as it was called was Annie’s safe haven. That one place she loved to visit in times of happiness and grief. She would sit hours watching the windmill, her eyes fixated on the spinning blades. She brought me here on our 4th date and I have been a regular since then.

During good times, we would sit on the grass, laughing, sharing some wine and cheese and on days she was upset, we sat silently as she cried her heart out, dusted her dress and braced herself up to face the next day.

Today I sit alone, watching the windmill as tears trickle down my eyes. This place feels like home to me today. I touch the grass beside me where my beloved wife Annie was buried a few hours ago. She lived a good life and has been put to rest in a place she called her second home. I know she rests in peace.
