After her morning walk, Ria sat on the lone bench, a bored look on her face. For the past 10 years this has been her ritual. A brisk walk in the park nearby and a 10 minute break on the forlorn bench before she got caught up in the grind of the day. A barren tree behind the lone bench did little to cheer up her dampened spirits. She fondly recalled her vacation in Europe where lovely parks, and trees in full bloom adorned the streets. What a boring sight and boring life I have, she sighed.
It was the last she saw of the park and bench. An earthquake rattled the town last night, causing havoc. The tremors were felt for many days. Picking up the strewn pieces and moving on was tough. She missed the lone bench, the bare tree and her safe and secure routine.
Today she realised the value of her monotonous life, it was beautiful, its beauty lay in its simplicity, in the loving arms that adorned her life. She would give anything to have it back, alas it wasnt coming back ever.

Excellent take. Sometimes we should be thankful for the everday grind, even if we can’t see it at the time.

Such a hopeful yet hopeless tale. Discovering the worth of things of things too late always causes heartache
