The abandoned one #FFFAW #FlashFiction

He stood alone, hunched, miserable, the outcast- unlike the other handsome trees which grew tall, their branches spread all over, giving shade to a weary traveller.

He was one of them but the cursed child- he stopped growing after 2 years and remained the barren, stunted one- he wasn’t even fit to be called a tree.

As he was cursing his fate, a man passed by. He stopped, looked at the stunted tree and his expression changed- there was this look of amazement, admiration. He ran to get his canvas and paint brushes and started painting.

“What an idiot”, the tree thought. “Wasting his time”.

As “The tree that gave me wisdom”, was admired by thousands of people in the art gallery at Paris, the tree stood cursing himself, oblivious that he was loved and people were in awe of him, all because of his uniqueness.

  1. Ah Indeed! Even we humans sometimes fail to notice beauty in us sometimes. It happened with me once 😛

  2. Akshata! Admirable how to test yourself as writer and experiment with various genres. Pure brilliance. I love the shades that you depict in the story through the tree who is the strong protagonist. It’s true about humans how we drive ourselves to the wall.
