A starry night,a tent house,a table laden with her favourite meal and wine. This was a special night which she looked forward to,she wanted to savour each moment, revel in it and live it to the fullest.
The past 40 years of life had gone by living each day for others- as a daughter, sister, wife, mother. Kids has grown up,moved on.The parents and husband had breathed their last. She missed them but this emptiness helped her rediscover herself.
Today all alone as she leisurely sipped her wine, she found true contentment. The day she started living for herself was the day she was reborn.

Somewhat melancholy. I hope she repopulates her life with people before her aloneness becomes permanent.

Yes she will. Isn’t it always about some me time that we all need to rejuvenate and then we are all set to join the world of people? It always helps me recharge

I so very much understand her. Taking advantage of the situation to be with herself…

Dear Akshata,
I really love this story. I’m happy for the woman has rediscovered herself and is comfortable with her own company. I lift my wine glass in her honor.
Shalom,
Rochelle

I’d like to see where she goes from here. I’d enjoy blissful solitude for about a week myself — assuming I had some financial security. ☺

Sounds a lot like my own mom. Divorce, losing the parents, and finally being free from the shackles of healthcare work. She now does her own thing and loves it. Well done, Akshata!

Emptiness helped her discover herself – this is such a poignant line for all of us. So much stuff, so muany distractions, taking us away from ourselves. Thanks for posting, Akshata.

This is beautiful and unusual. Taking the melancholy and sadness and creating a new purpose for herself out of it. Wonderful.
